We brought back the Podcaster default image.
Adding feeds has never been easier with our build in search. You can still import using a url.
The My Favs tab has been improved to include multiple edit mode.
You can now rearrange, unsubscribe, mark all played and refresh just a portion of your feeds from here.
The download tab has been renamed to Queue. The function of this view is to show items that are waiting to be downloaded or are currently being downloaded. You can rearrange the items here. This is also the place you come when you want to sync your feeds (automatically download and delete items based on the sync settings)
After downloads are complete, you go to the Agenda tab. Here you can filter for all, unheard or saved casts. You can also reverse the order so you can listen from old to new. Gray background indicates a downloaded item.
This is our details view. Audio feeds will remember the play position and resume after app restarts.
And finally, this is the options tab. Here you can control how casts are downloaded and deleted when you press sync.
We are huge netcast fans so we need a lot of control and flexibility. We built an app that is meant for heavy netcast users but if simple enough for everyone. Other app might pretend to play netcast but Rss Player is the only app in the app store that does is designed for serious netcast listeners. Available soon in the app store.
UPDATE: Someone asked how to control the volume in the comments, Just touch the volume icon to make the volume controller popup. look here http://twitpic.com/1tgjh
Search is back? That's great! I hope it's just like Podcaster's search feature.
ReplyDeleteSame as Podcaster. In the upcoming weeks, I will be adding more options to search like popular feeds, search by keywords, rating and more.
ReplyDeleteJust a minor niggle, have Apple asked you to stop calling them "podcasts"?
ReplyDeletePS, nice explanation with screenshots, by the way!
ReplyDeleteWith each update I am more pleased about my purchase. Thanks for the great app!
ReplyDeleteI've just bought RSS Player and noticed a bug - when my iPod goes into sleep mode in the middle of downloading a podcast, when I try to play the file after finishing the download, the app sometimes just closes down.
ReplyDeleteIt also seems very unclear which podcasts have been downloaded and which haven't. The ordering of podcasts from feeds is also all over the place - I want them displayed from newest to oldest, but this doesn't seem possible in 1.1. Are any of these issues being addressed in 1.2?
All the issues listed by Anonymous have been addressed in update 1.2
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for the new one. I hope it hasn't been rejected!
ReplyDeleteIt looked a great app. But it just stopped working after a couple of goes. Just see splash screen and then quits without warning on touch 2nd gen?
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteMP4 intermittently crashes in 1.2 version. Please fix. For example, feeds with MP4 video from ChannelFlip.tv (Tech) no longer works and instantly crashes app.
Can you control the volume on this version? I listen to netcasts on the way to work, walking down noisy streets, but then still want to listen when I get in the quiet of the office, and am a little bit frustrated with having to stop it, play something from my MP3 collection, change volume, stop it and then go back to what I was listening to before.
ReplyDeleteYou can make the volume controller visible by touching the volume button. Take a look. http://twitpic.com/1tgjh
ReplyDeleteAlmerica,
ReplyDeleteI feel so smart for having gotten on the RSS Player early. This software just keeps getting better and better. Great work!
I wanted to give you one heads up -- Tim Russert passed away and was replaced by David Gregory. You might want to swap out that Meet the Press image in the background screen at some point.
Just downloaded the app and love it. You don't realize how bad iTunes is for podcasts until you use something that's designed specifically for podcasts! That said, here are a couple of requests:
ReplyDelete1) I need an option so that playback stops after the current podcast finished playing. I don't want to automatically start the next one. I start a podcast every night when I go to bed, and always fall asleep while listening. I don't want all my podcast to be played and marked as read. In iTunes, my work-around was to set the iphone clock timer to shutoff after a certain amount of time. This is more difficult with Rss Player because it stops when I exit the app.
2) I'd like to be able to use the mic switch to start and stop playback. I realize that this is probably out of your control.
Regarding my post above, I just realized there already is an option to stop playback after the current podcast, duh! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThe new update has really made RSS player a great application. It's stable and much easier to see what I've got downloaded. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could play audio in the background, while I use other apps.
I really liked rss player until 1.2 came out... After I imported my podcast list RSS player started to crash immediately after start. Very disappointing. I had to switch back to the previous version. Any solution to this problem so far or I had to wait for next 1.X update?
ReplyDeleteLove the app. Biggest improvement I'd like to see is faster startup when it needs to start towards the end of a long podcast. Many of the casts I listen to are multiple hours and it can take a very long time to seek to the last part of a long file. Thanks for the great work!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for an app that has a good visual to "fast forward" while playing podcast. I am visually impaired and find it difficult to do that with app on iphone
